Seattle Mariners - Overview (2024)

  • CalRaleigh

    SEA Catcher #29

Cal Raleigh homered and drove in a pair of runs on Wednesday afternoon, powering the Mariners to a 5-1 victory over the Reds in Seattle.

Raleigh tied the game at one run apiece with a 384-foot (104.0 mph EV) solo shot off of left-hander Andrew Abbott in the home half of the second inning. He also capped off the scoring in the ballgame as he worked a bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning. The hard-hitting backstop finished the day 1-for-2 officially and is now hitting .208/.311/.377 with three long balls and six RBI on the season.

  • JoshRojas

    SEA Second Baseman #4

Josh Rojas came off the bench and swatted a solo home run on Wednesday, helping to power the Mariners past the visiting Reds.

Rojas entered the game as a pinch-hitter for Luis Urias in the seventh inning and blasted a 362-foot (103.9 mph EV) solo shot off of Lucas Sims that increased the Mariners’ advantage to 3-1. He finished the day 1-for-2. While Urias — the short-side of the platoon at third base — has struggled mightily at the dish in the early going, Rojas is now slashing an impressive .343/.410/.486 with a homer and four RBI in his first 39 plate appearances. He might be a decent deep league streaming option with a series against the Rockies at Coors Field coming up over the weekend.

  • Mitch Garver belted his first home run as a member of the Mariners in Wednesday afternoon’s victory over the Reds.

The 33-year-old slugger belted a go-ahead 393-foot (105.4 mph EV) solo shot off of left-hander Andrew Abbott in the sixth inning, putting the Mariners ahead to stay. That was his only hit in three at-bats on the day, though he did draw a walk as well. The first couple of weeks of the season have been a real struggle for Garver, who is still hitting just .160/.283/.280 with a homer and four RBI.

  • BryceMiller

    SEA Starting Pitcher #50

Bryce Miller delivered a masterful performance in Wednesday’s victory over the Reds, allowing one run on only one hit over six stellar innings of work.

The 25-year-old right-hander punched out seven batters on the afternoon while issuing only one base on balls. The only hit that he allowed came on a solo home run off the bat of Elly De La Cruz in the second inning, aside from that Miller was incredible. He got six swings and misses on 91 pitches on the impressive day, posting a solid CSW of 30 percent. Miller has been outstanding through his first four starts on the season, registering a 1.85 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and a 24/7 K/BB ratio over 24 1/3 innings. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling when he squares off against the Rangers in Arlington on Wednesday.

  • SamHaggerty

    SEA Left Fielder #0

Mariners activated Sam Haggerty from the 10-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Tacoma.

Haggerty will provide depth for the M’s in the outfield this season, but other than that, fantasy managers shouldn’t run to waiver wire to pick up the 29-year-old.

  • LoganGilbert

    SEA Starting Pitcher #36

Logan Gilbert allowed one run over 6 2/3 innings Tuesday in the Mariners’ 3-1 win over the Reds.

Gilbert finally got a win tonight. He likewise allowed just one run in two of his previous three starts, but those both ended up as no-decisions in eventual Mariners victories. Gilbert ought to be viewed as a top-five fantasy SP at this point. He has a 2.33 ERA and a 29/4 K/BB ratio in 27 innings.

  • RyneStanek

    SEA Relief Pitcher #45

Brought in to close in the ninth, Ryne Stanek instead wound up with a hold after getting two outs and loading the bases against the Reds.

Stanek could have wound up with the save, but a bad feed from Ty France as Stanek was trying to get to first on a Jake Fraley grounder resulted in an error that prolonged that game. On the play, Stanek made a headfirst dive at Fraley in an attempt to tag him and appeared to get the wind knocked out of him. Stanek then walked the next batter to load the bases and was replaced by Taylor Saucedo. It was Saucedo who wound up the save after Tyler Stephenson flew out to center. Andrés Muñoz had already gotten four outs in the seventh and eighth innings. Muñoz remains the favorite for saves in Seattle, but since manager Scott Servais is very willing to use him in high-leverage situations earlier in games, Stanek has some value in deeper leagues, at least until Matt Brash can return and reestablish himself.

  • GeorgeKirby

    SEA Starting Pitcher #68

George Kirby held the Reds to two runs over six innings in the Mariners’ 9-3 victory Monday.

Kirby struck out six and walked none. He walked two of the first three batters he faced against the Red Sox in his season debut on March 29, but he’s since faced 96 batters without issuing a single free pass. His ERA is still hideous at 6.64, but it’ll surely keep coming down.

  • MitchHaniger

    SEA Right Fielder #17

Mitch Haniger delivered a two-run homer and an RBI double in Monday’s win over the Reds.

Haniger had been pretty quiet since his big Opening Day in his return to Seattle, but this puts him back up to .286/.375/.500 for the season. The Mariners had him DH today for the first time since March 31. That they’re treating Mitch Garver like a full-time DH means they can’t give Haniger the additional time off his feet that might help him remain healthy in the long run.

  • JonatanClase

    SEA Center Fielder #85

Jonatan Clase is hitting eighth and playing left field against the Reds on Monday.

It will be the MLB debut for Clase after he was recalled by the Mariners before Monday’s game. The 21-year-old has big-time speed with 79 stolen bases in 2023, and he’s starting to tap into his power from both sides of the plate. There’s a lot of risk in Clase’s profile because of his swing-and-miss, but there’s no denying there’s some potential reward, too.
